At Dawn
The final song on what was announced as Leon's final set of recordings, the inspiration came from Yves Montand's "It Was At Dawn", which deals with the sadness and hopes which come at daybreak. Leon takes the basic idea, sharpens the focus and expands the optimistic finish, picturing a time when the people will rise and make tomorrow a better day. Thus, Leon signs off after a life of songwriting:
"And the mighty will be humbled / at the dawning of the day / And their wealth and power will crumble / And be swept like dust away."
Fiz Shapur accompanies Leon on the piano, her contribution to the second half of the album significant.
