This track parodies the over-sentimentality of American country songs such as Jim Reeves' "Mother Went A-Walkin'". One can imagine it raising plenty of laughs in the folk clubs, but Leon did not record a version for posterity.
Note that this song pre-dates Billy Connolly's similarly themed comedy number about the 'recipe' for writing a country song, by some years. Connolly in fact recorded as a folk singer for the Transatlantic label in the 1960s; one wonders if Leon's song inspired him.
