I Heard it on the Radio
With the nuclear issue current (especially after Chernobyl), this song takes a sideways look at the Cold War, and at the purpose of nuclear weapons generally. Like many of the songs on I Didn't Mean It, it has a comedy dimension, but makes some serious points, not least that there are non-nuclear countries such as Switzerland, which have not succumbed to the imagined threat of attack from the USSR. So, the song poses, how serious is this threat - the nuclear question notwithstanding?
