Bringing the News From Nowhere

7 Mar 1986, Fuse Records

Made available as a digital download album in August 2016.

Like his previous album, Leon recorded Bringing The News From Nowhere at Gateway Studio in London, at the start of 1986. Once more he is joined by several long-term collaborators, especially on the tour-de-force “Who Reaps The Profits? Who Pays The Price?”, a re-make of an early-1980s song which draws contributions from Frankie Armstrong, Roy Bailey, Martin Carthy and Fiz Shapur.

Leon follows the familiar pattern of presenting his latest compositions alongside rare or unheard material from the past. As noted, “Who Reaps The Profits” dates back several years (and had been recorded elsewhere, prior to this album), while “Full Marks For Charlie” is another of the archived Inter-Action compositions of the early-1970s. In addition, both “The Saint” and “Song of the Free Press” are from the 1960s, the latter having had a major re-working here, for its first proper recording.

The album was issued, like several others in his catalogue, with a pull-out sheet containing all the lyrics.
