Leon’s
first studio album of the 1990s, and his first all-new CD, was recorded in April 1991 at Idealsound Recorders, London. It was composed of entirely new material bar a remake of “William”, featuring Martin Carthy
alongside Leon, although Leon had apparently written some of its content in the late-1980s (after I Didn't Mean It).
The lengthy sleevenotes consist of track-by-track annotation by Leon himself. The cover art is by Peter Kennard, whose work had also inspired the sleeve design on For the Good of the Nation, back in 1981. Although poignant, as one would expect from Kennard, the image tends to confuse the issue somewhat, the song after which the album is named having nothing to do with ecology, or even elephants.
Also released in the UK on cassette.
